Carmel Shabi (1939–2009) was a master Israeli silversmith who trained alongside elite British craftsmen whose workshops trace back to the late 18th century. During his time in England, he created original masterpieces for world-renowned luxury houses, including Bvlgari, Asprey, Garrard, and Tiffany & Co.

His exceptional artistry earned him prestigious private commissions from global figures, including the Sheikh of Muscat and the Sultan of Malaysia. Most notably, Shabi was chosen to create the Ascot Cup for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

In the mid-1970s, Shabi returned to Israel and turned his mastery toward Jewish ceremonial art. Within a few years, he rose to international prominence as a visionary Judaica artist, receiving the prestigious Bar-Ilan University Judaica Prize.

His impeccable technique and innovative design language transformed his Tel Aviv studio into a vibrant creative hub for contemporary designers and silversmiths. Recognizing his profound contributions to the craft, the Swiss Guild of Silversmiths awarded him a lifetime membership — holding the unique distinction of being the guild's sole non-Swiss member.

Carmel Shabi's works have been widely exhibited across Jerusalem, New York, Illinois, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington D.C., and Switzerland. Today, his timeless silver creations grace the homes of discerning collectors and Mehadrei Mitzvah observers, and are preserved in private collections and museums worldwide.
